On December 17th, noaur had the opportunity to join the Female Founder Pitching Day 2024 at Helsinki City Hall. This inspiring event celebrated innovation and entrepreneurship, spotlighting talented female and non-binary founders shaping the future.
What is Female Founder Pitching Day and Why Should You Join?
Female Founder Pitching Day (FFPD) is the biggest annual pitching competition for female and non-binary business founders. Featuring top talents from Finland’s leading female entrepreneurship programs and an open call, this inspiring event spotlights bold ideas, fosters connections, and showcases resources to fuel entrepreneurial success. This year's pitchers hail from renowned female entrepreneurship programs, including Finland as a Female Tech Founder Frontrunner by Tech Nordic Advocates and the Spark Program by The Shortcut. Joining Female Founder Pitching Day (FFPD) is a chance to tackle the funding gap and low representation of female and non-binary founders in startups. Despite a slight rise in deals for female-led startups in Europe, funding remains at just 1.3% in 2023 (European VC Female Founders Dashboard by PitchBook). FFPD empowers founders to connect with investors and change the narrative.
In addition to the two main pitching rounds, FFPD featured inspiring talks from influential figures from the City of Helsinki, representatives from sponsors like Google and Roschier, and organizers such as The Shortcut, Tech Nordic Advocates, and Shevestments. They shared valuable insights on startup challenges and opportunities, encouraging female entrepreneurs to trust the process of building their businesses from the ground up.
The event also hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion, “Women Founders: Innovating the Finnish Startup Ecosystem,” providing a platform for panelists and participants to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaboration to drive meaningful change in the startup landscape.
